It’s not really sinking in right now but British fashion icon and designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead in his home today.

Alexander McQueen

“I’ve got a 600-year-old elm tree in my garden, and I made up this story of a girl who lives in it and comes out of the darkness to meet a prince and become queen.”
– Alexander McQueen

To say that this is a loss for British and worldwide fashion is quite the understatement. McQueen was known for his dramatic statement pieces and marvelous tailoring and will be dearly missed.

R.I.P.  for a phenomenal talent.

Scarlett Johansson has designed a handbag for Spanish fashion chain Mango in a charity initiative to aid victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Johansson’s Haiti handbag will be distributed in all Mango stores worldwide from March 2010. All profits will be donated to INTERMÓN-OXFAM, which is helping victims of the disaster.

The Haiti handbag retails at £16.90 and will be exclusively available in more than 1,390 Mango stores.

Scarlett Johansson, who is the face of Mango, has designed a print on the handbag to represent the ancient cartography of Haiti. It contains the message “Supporting the people of Haiti” written and signed by the actress.

Johansson said: “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Mango to promote conscious consumerism and to benefit Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. By purchasing this bag, which I specially designed, you are helping to provide life-saving assistance like clean water to the people of Haiti.”
